We Bought A Church!

Well, we really did it... bought a church that is.  I am SO excited! When we opened our shop a year ago, there was not much to choose from in the retail space department, and certainly nothing with any carachter or history. About three months after we opened, my favorite building in our little town of Monument went up for sale. It was the original Catholic church in Monument and was  built in 1911.  We had looked at it last Fall but it didn't seem feasable at the time.  The owner recently dropped the price and we went back for a second look. We decided to make an offer and WE GOT HER!  I am so excited to know that we will be carrying on the legacy of this little jewel. We had our inspection yesterday and I have to say it gave me chills to look up into the attic and just wonder what stories lie within these walls.  I am taking lots of before and after photos so I will keep you all posted on our progress.

This is a photo of the original  church circa 1911

This is how it appears today

Eventually, we would like to restore her back to (of course) white paint,
but for now I am just so happy to have her.

I will be linking up to Kathleen's White Wednesday
be sure to stop by and enjoy all of the creativity!

Thanks so much for stopping by~

That is so exciting! We almost bought an old school house but it needed too much in repairs. Those old places like that have so much neat history!!

You have my dream, We have a little church in town that the owner uses as storage. I feel so bad for it, it deserves to have a life of purpose other than storage. I want to find the owner and convice him that I should have it! I can't wait to see what you do with yours! xoxo

Hi Shawna, Oh, this little church is fantastic! I look forward to seeing what you do with it. I love old church buildings. They are just so unique. I helped decorate Starting Grounds Church & Coffee Shop with antiques, red velvet draperies and old stained glass windows hung on chains. We are still a church, but with some restored vintage character.
Have a great Sunday!
