My Vanity Makeover

I just had to do it...the vanity in my master bath wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great either. The floors are marble, the walls are taupe, the tub surround and wainscoting are tile, as is the mirror surround. I felt like I was swimming in a sea of  beige. I decided it really needed some perking up with a splash of (what else) white. I'm really happy with the way it came out. Such a difference!

 Here is the cabinet "before"

I painted everything (two coats) with Behr satin paint in "Powdered Snow". It's a really nice, creamy, white.  I used the one with the primer built in since I wasn't sure what was on the existing cabinet. Normally I would use a semi-gloss for cabinetry but since I was going to glaze these, the satin pulls in  the glaze a little better. Be sure the paint is completely dry before glazing.
This is the really scary (and ugly) part.  I used Behr "Bison Brown", and  mixed one part paint to four parts glaze. I painted the glaze on, making sure to get it in all of the grooves. Then just wiped it off with a warm, damp cloth, until I liked the look. You only have a few minutes to work with this so just do one section at a time. I also added some new Martha Stewart hardware.
 This is the "after"

The total time involved was only about four hours, not including drying time. I'm thinking about doing beadboard for the tub surround to tie it all together. What do you think?

These are the products that I used.  All are from Home Depot. I was able to use a sample size paint, and mixed it with a quart of glaze. I have alot leftover so I will have to find some more pieces to glaze. Yay!

Thank you all for stopping by  and
have a wonderful weekend
